Aluminium Unveiled: a comprehensive MOOC
A new global online course invites learners to discover aluminium’s unique role in modern innovation and sustainability and explore its properties, production processes and use flexibility.
Aluminium Unveiled: A Comprehensive Journey from History to Sustainability is the world’s first Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) entirely dedicated to aluminium. The course has been developed by professors from the University of Padova and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), under the coordination of European Aluminium and International Aluminium Institute with support from international and regional aluminium associations across the globe.
Over five weeks, participants will explore aluminium’s history, properties, production processes, and diverse applications in sectors such as automotive, construction, packaging, and engineering. The course also highlights aluminium’s contribution to a more sustainable future, focusing on decarbonisation efforts, recycling, circular economy approaches, and the technologies driving innovation across the entire value chain.
With more than 30 articles, 24 video lectures, and 16 interviews with industry experts, Aluminium Unveiled offers valuable insights for students, technical professionals, and anyone interested in materials science and sustainability.
